Nondi is a classic test of balance and coordination, primarily played by children. It requires very little equipment—just a flat surface and a small flat stone or tile (Sillu).
The Grid: A rectangular grid of 6 to 8 numbered boxes is drawn on the ground with chalk or in the dirt.
The Gameplay: A player throws the stone into the first box. They must then hop through the grid on one leg, skipping the box that contains the stone. They must navigate to the end, turn around, and return, picking up the stone on the way back—all while staying on one leg.
The Challenges: As the game progresses, the stone is thrown into higher-numbered boxes. If the player touches a line, puts their second foot down, or fails to throw the stone into the correct box, their turn ends. It’s a great exercise for building leg strength and spatial awareness.
